Even though I do remember the days before music was visualized at every beat, I’m still blown away by the sheer simplicity and power of “imagery” as a supporting member of your band.
Take this incredibly simple idea from Lenny Kravitz’s April 22nd show in Reims, France. He gets up on stage with his own camera - and announces he’s taking a picture of YOU to post on his site.
Then he asks everyone OUT THERE - all those guys in the nose-bleed section - to shoot something at the same time and post those pictures too…….voila! Instant fun, and total engagement.
Oh, and be sure to tag yourselves in the shots, he says. And tag they did, by the thousands upon thousands. I’d guess every pixel in the dark is tagged with some happy fan’s name. Easy, of course. Clever? Very. Like I keep saying, it doesn’t take alot of money to give your people a terrific shared experience.
No wonder Lenny’s fans are the “roll over and die for you” types. He makes them part of the emotion. You can too.
