One Cool Free Idea

So I am on the flip side of my birthday and I’m heading to Nashville soon for music and more music; my mother in law has survived the flood of the century here in Rhode Island; just got feted by my best buddies - life is pretty damn good, I’d say.

My new music blog is up and I’ve been trying to post every day - with close success. You know, it’s always good to take your own advice once in a while - and it’s not as easy as we espouse to “just make the time to create” on a daily basis.  I actually spent most of today on a longer post about creativity and innovation - which I hope to post tomorrow - and THAT ate up the time I needed to just do the music.

I love that I have committed to producing every day, even if I miss one here or there.  I love that I’m talking about it here, because it makes me feel obligated to the universe to send something back out.  And I AM taking my own advice to just put “it” out there for the sake of sending - and getting used to NOT waiting for feedback.

For a long time, I’ve loved listening to tracks recorded in living rooms or subways or cars, or whatever - just the ideas getting saved somewhere so you don’t forget them…that’s what One Before Midnight is.  My place to not try too hard at perfection - or approval.  Just a place to feel safe putting ideas down.  Like you would with friends around the piano.  Bits and pieces - scraps of sound that meant something in the moment you thought of them….
